LIGHTING.  Perforated or static I will always have lighting in mind when making a piece.

PERFORATED PORCELAIN

Hand built and made paper thin in porcelain so to be translucent, these hollow perforated forms are highly detailed complex forms with a beautiful character and ambience.

Lighting is a bit of an obsession of mine. In much of my work I reference the dancing reflection and refraction of light within bodies of water as it is a phenomena that never ceases to amaze me.

Light is a massive factor in our lives, without light we would be blind. Therefore lighting is hugely important. Lighting can transform a space and the way that we feel when we are within an environment, the right light is very hard to find. You want something personal, that reflects your taste but that is not intrusive.

Clay is a medium that responds so well to lighting, the warm glow gained by electrical or candle light serves to strengthen the pieces visual appreciation through function. Whether paper thin porcelain with an organic translucence or perforated ceramic forms my lighting provides something different and spectacular. Ideal for the interior or exterior they are an asset to any living space.

I make sculptural ambient lighting that function as objects of beauty by day but also transform into objects of radiance and wonder by night.

Lighting my pieces is a very intentional reaction for me as it references the delicate life within the reef.
The reef appears to be a dominant and permanent structure, but when you explore closer it is in fact an ornate object of a delicate and precarious existence.
